FAQ

Common Questions

Quick answers about sessions, confidentiality, and how we work together.

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

The first session is primarily an intake and orientation. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and your history. It is also an opportunity for you to see if we are a good fit and for you to ask any questions about my approach.

Frequency varies depending on your needs and goals. Typically, we start with weekly sessions to build momentum and rapport. As you progress, we may move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions.

On an average it takes anywhere between 8 to 12 sessions to observe positive changes (not achieve a goal). Factors such as readiness to change and the climate outside therapy would determine the number of sessions required for one to benefit from therapy.

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Your privacy is protected by law and ethical guidelines. There are very limited exceptions, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, which we will discuss in our first session.

Yes, I offer both in-person and online therapy sessions via secure video conferencing platforms. This allows for flexibility and accessibility regardless of your location.

It is important to seek help at the optimum time; therapy is not magic, and it takes time. So, seeking therapy before you are deep into a struggle can be more beneficial as it can help one overcome it easily.
